The Return of the Big Spender

Sorry for being away for so long. I have been hibernating for the winter, which turned out to be quite a pleasant one. I had a cold now and again but better now. Today I am showing off my new toy which only came this morning - a Nikon Coolpix S8200. This blog provides interesting reading about it. I have taken a couple of photos as seen below.

Here is a picture of a rainbow taken from my front door together with some of the sheep and their lambs.

Rivers

The photo is one I took from a spot a few yards from where I live. It shows the beautiful scenery and the mountains which surrounds the village. The mountain showing above the others is called Plynlimon and is the source of the rivers SEVERN and WYE, the latter well known for it's salmon fishing.

Motor Racing

I have just been watching on television the Spanish Grand Prix and have come to the conclusion that the winning and losing is done in the pits with all the monitors and operators talking all the time to the drivers in the cars.
They are dealing in hundredths of a second, monitoring almost everything that is on the vehicle, the poor driver is just sitting there doing what they tell him. Yes, he does have to handle the car, and to do it at those speeds is very skilful I admit, but why can’t they try what I have thought of for quite a while which would bring more interest to the sport-----
Try just using Pit Boards as in the old days. Only use radios to tell the driver of any incidents on the actual circuit. When he feels the need for new tyres or for some other reason, he puts his hand up as he passes the Pit Board and they will expect him in at the following lap.
At the moment the Pit Lane are working to split seconds as to when he should come in for any reason.
This would make the whole race more exciting because the drivers would be competing against each other, rather that being automatons to their Masters on the Monitors.
Recently I was reading in the Daily Mail Newspaper that the subject of actions in the Pit Lanes were spoiling peoples interest in the sport. Maybe they could try my idea’s for a change. Do any others agree with me?
Years ago the drivers were actually driving their cars and I was an interested spectator, but not any longer.
Those of you who watch the present day s action will know what I mean when I mention “Foot Wagers”

This, I think, is wonderful. Many thanks to my friend Herbie.

Pilot Cuts, Economy??

Having read that some Trainee Pilots are to be made redundant, gives me great anger, as it does with many others. I know what it's like to be kicked out from something you love such as flying, all because of 'Circumstances'
The pictures in the Daily Mail says it all.

Snows on Kilimanjaro

Just came onto this website by accident. Having spent some years in Tanzania ( before the name change) , I flew over Kilimanjaro several times. Then it was covered in snow permanently.

Odds and Ends

These photos are just to keep my hand in as I have no computer at the moment and these are from a friends machine. I am waiting impatiently for Broadband to be connected hopefully by next Friday. The first dog is Fly, who will answer to Babs, or any other name should she fancy it. This is Bel. She rather catch rats than chase sheep!
I don't know what this is called but it looks nice.
This is Twm, 'Tom' in English. A very temperamental she cat. Lives in the farm house.
This is sunset over Fron Goch, the top of a hill which is an old Roman lookout fort.

These are for a special friend.

The lower of these photos is of Cader Idris ( The Seat of Idris the Giant) . In Welsh mythology it's said that any person who climbs to the top and spends the night there, will either be dead in the morning or walk down a wonderful poet. The others are for the friend who has personal memories of these areas.

Lake Talyllyn Reflections

Reflections. Taken Good Friday 2006. Camera...my favourite Fujifilm 3500. Getting on a bit, but good lenses I bought through e.bay from a camera shop in New York.

Learning through experimenting

First of all I am going to place a couple of photos which I took recently. The River photo is of the Dovey. This is a well known Salmon and Trout venue which is a short distance from my village. The one below is my village taken from the top of Bryn Crogwr, (the Hangmans Hill). When people walk to the top there is a tradition that one takes a stone and adds it to a cairn there. A beautiful day and the temperature reached 60f. I still use farenheit as I understand what it means, not this foreign celsius stuff.

Welcome to my first Post

Being the first time in posting I will just show a few of my photos of the area where I live. It is all farming country so will put in some pictures of the animals.

This is a view which I see when I walk a few yards from my house.

Here is Nel my neighbours sheep dog doing some resting between jobs.
